Mediation

Mediation has become an increasingly effective tool for alternative dispute resolution of workers’ compensation cases over the last decade. The process of mediation affords all parties an opportunity to have a neutral mediator evaluate their claims and defenses and guide them to a mutually satisfactory resolution.

Howard Y. Held has been a certified mediator in Minnesota since 2003 and has been chosen by both plaintiff and defense to mediate workers’ compensation cases. Having practiced in the area of workers' compensation for over 26 years, starting on the plaintiff side and then switching to the defense in 1986 he has the unique ability to evaluate the case from both perspectives, offer gentle and sometimes not so gentle guidance to the parties regarding what is a realistic outcome for mediation and the vast majority of mediations end in settlement.

David N. Larson also provides mediation services in select cases in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. With over 30 years experience in Minnesota workers’ compensation cases and nearly 25 years practicing in Wisconsin's workers' compensation system, he brings the knowledge and experience required for successful mediation.

A mediation can be held at the offices of Fitch, Johnson, Larson and Held in that there are two conference rooms available in the office and a large conference room that can be reserved in the lower level of the office building. There’s a restaurant in the building should there be mediation over the noon hour. Furthermore Mr. Held will travel throughout the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin where he is also a licensed attorney.
